The Institut für Institut für Kraftfahrzeuge (ika) is an institute of RWTH Aachen University and is active in the field of applied automotive research. RWTH Aachen University is recognised as one of the leading universities world-wide in vehicle technology. The range of services offered by ika ranges from the idea up to the experimental testing of prototypes and production vehicles. Ika’s activities are tailored to industrial demands. Fraunhofer-Institute for Structural Durability LBF


The LBF was founded 1938. Since then, its orientation is to develop and enhance the fundamentals of design analysis and optimization of complex structures and systems under variable loading conditions. The aim is to develop and provide methods and procedures for improving design and manufacturing of machinery, vehicles, industrial equipment, and buildings regarding strength and fatigue behavior under normal operational conditions, with respect to material efficiency, system weight, and service life, as well as manufacturing, operation, and maintenance costs.
